Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Climb | 5–6 Days Hut Trek

Overview

The Marangu Route, also known as the Classic Hut Route, is the oldest and most established path to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the only route that offers permanent mountain hut accommodation, making it ideal for climbers who prefer shelter over camping.

The route ascends and descends on the same trail, passing through rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and arctic zones. While the trail is technically less demanding, proper acclimatization is essential for summit success.

Why Choose the Marangu Route
  • Hut Accommodation – Comfortable sleeping shelters with beds and mattresses
  • Well-Established Trail – Clearly marked and well-maintained
  • Gentle Gradient – Ideal for first-time climbers
  • Weather Protection – Suitable during rainy seasons
  • Cost-Effective Option – Fewer logistics than camping routes
